Minimum enrollment is required or classes will not run. Minimum enrollment varies by class.

Code Basics

Who is this class appropriate for?

This class is for rising K-1st grade students who do not know

all of their letters and sounds.

What will we learn?

First sound- the ability to identify the first sound in a word. This is the first step in phoneme segmentation.

 

Phoneme segmentation- the ability to break words into individual sounds. This skill is necessary for spelling.

 

Phoneme blending- the ability to blend the individual sounds of a word together. This skill is necessary for reading.

 

Letter name, letter sound, and letter formation A-Z

 

Reading and spelling two-letter (VC) and three-letter (CVC) closed syllable words

Foundations

Who is this class appropriate for?

This class is for rising 1st-3rd grade students who know 90% of their letter

sounds A-Z. Students may have laborious reading closed syllables and need

support with word reading fluency.

What will we learn?

Phoneme Segmenting- the ability to break words into individual sounds. This skill is necessary for spelling.

Phoneme Blending- the ability to blend the individual sounds of a word together. This skill is necessary for reading.

Phoneme Deletion and Phoneme Substitution- Delete or substitute a sound from a word to make a new word.

Fluent reading and spelling of closed and open one-syllable words. This includes CVC, digraphs, and blends.

Other Vowel Sounds

Who is this class appropriate for?

This class is appropriate for rising 2nd-3rd graders who need help with long vowel

sounds and diphthongs.

What will we learn?

Review of closed and open syllables.

Reading and spelling one-syllable silent-e and vowel team words.

Multi-Syllable Level

Who is this class appropriate for?

This class is for rising 3rd-6th that may struggle when reading or

spelling multisyllabic words. Students should be fluent in reading

one-syllable words. Students do not need prior knowledge of the

six syllable types.

What will we learn?

Review six syllable types.

Intermediate Book Club

Who is this class appropriate for?

This class is for rising 4th-6th graders who are reading at grade level.

What will we learn?

Students will vote on a book to read and discuss as a group. Our focus will be on comprehension and reading with expression. Students will be responsible to complete reading and writing activities independently in between sessions.
